Day Four

Today was an exciting/exhausting day. We got up at 6 Springfield time so all five of us girls could take a shower. We got ready and went to breakfast and then left for NYC! We got to New York and first went to Central Park. After we went to the subway and bought our handy dandy metro passes and took the subway to CANAL STREET! It was definitely an experience! It took us a little while to find what we were looking for (purses obviously) but a little Chinese lady came over to us and whispered “purses purses you want purses come this way!” We quickly followed, nervous, excited, and curious all at the same time! She took us a couple blocks and kept telling us to hurry hurry!  By this time I was wondering if she was planning on taking us somewhere to kill us or something! But she didnt, we got to this hole in the wall up a couple flights of stairs, and to our great surprise Guchi, Chanel, Prada, and all different brands of (knock off) purses were there for our buying! The best part about the whole experience is how you barter with them! They say “50 dolla 50 dalla for you!’ I say I give you 25 thats it! They say “ok ok 30 dalla final offer!” I say ok sold! When we left it felt like person after person just surrounded us with sun glasses, jewlrey, wallets, purses, scarves, and so many other things! O annnnnd perfume! Because its all stolen its so cheap! Its makes me feel like I HAVE to buy these things because they are sooooo inexpensive! After we finally got tired of canal street it was at least 3 pm by then and most of us were STARVING! The hiding from undercover policeman and hiding doors must have distracted us from our roaring stomachs! Shortly after we took the subway to the Brooklyn Bridge and found a New York hot dog vender and sat and ate. The 3 dollar hot dog and 2 dollar can of coke never tasted so good. When we were finished eating we walked down to ground zero and the to the Statue of Liberty. When we took the cab back to our bus we wondered why the guy never turned the meter. Before he had already given us an estimate on how much it would cost to take us. By that time our feet hurt so bad we didnt care how much it cost so we just agreed. Little did we know we got completly screwed! Martha Sarah and some people took a cab before us and payed 12 dollars! We payed 22! We are the epitome of tourists! When we got back to the bus we rushed around to get ready for BROADWAY! We scurried around and all changed and walked another block to hail a cab to go to Times Square! We walked around for a bit and found a mexican resaurant to eat at. Food was good, but Mehleena and I were not to happy when we payed 2.25 for a small glass of coke and then once we downed it, was told refills were not free. This made me quickly decide I wanted to leave as soon as possible! About twenty minutes later we finished and headed to Wicked! It was amazing. The set, the singing, the acting, the costumes, and everything about it put me in awe! I loved everything about it. When we got out of the show, the last thing we wanted to do to experience New York was have some New York cheese cake. Walking to find some was FREEZING but once we got inside and I out the first bite in my mouth, it was allllll worth it. When we finished we walked down the road and met Eli and the rest of HTV. Now we’re in the hotel and Im basically falling asleep finishing this! Tomorrow is D.C.!

O and did I mention HTV WON ANOTHER EXCELLENCE AWARD THIS YEAR!!! YEAHHHHHH!
